Established in 2022 and now home to more than 300 members, The Heaven Branch provides comfort, support, and companionship to bereaved Sunderland AFC supporters. Built around a shared love for the Club, it offers a welcoming community where fans can remember loved ones while connecting with others who have experienced similar loss.
Members have access to one-to-one bereavement support and counselling, alongside meaningful commemorative keepsakes including coffin flags, pitch clippings, and Love Bugs, helping families celebrate the lives and memories of fellow supporters.
Throughout the year, The Heaven Branch also hosts a variety of social events, including talk-ins, workshops, and community gatherings, providing opportunities for members to come together in a supportive and welcoming environment.
In 2024, The Heaven Branch proudly welcomed Sunderland AFC founder James Allen as its Honorary President, with the full blessing of his family. This special recognition reflects the group's strong connection to the Club's history and its enduring commitment to the Sunderland community.
In early 2025, work began on expanding the memorial area at the front of the Stadium of Light. The enhanced space has been thoughtfully designed to provide a peaceful setting where families can scatter ashes and remember loved ones in a place that holds special meaning.
As the community continues to grow, The Heaven Branch remains committed to ensuring every Sunderland supporter is remembered, celebrated, and forever part of the Club's family. Through compassion, friendship, and shared memories, it continues to offer comfort to those who need it most.
