In August 2024, a new memorial garden was opened outside the main entrance of Stadium of Light, creating a peaceful and lasting place of remembrance for supporters and their families.
On non-matchdays, loved ones can visit the garden to scatter the ashes of family members and friends whose connection to the club remained a cherished part of their lives. Set within the heart of the stadium they loved, the garden offers a quiet space for reflection, remembrance, and celebration of treasured memories.
Open throughout the year, the memorial garden provides supporters with the opportunity to return whenever they wish—to feel close to those they have lost, share moments of reflection, and honour loved ones in a place that holds deep meaning for generations of fans.
